Hi folks,
I recently joined the site, and I really enjoy reviewing the items, discussion, opinions and perspective by the members.
I have a chance to purchase a nice Budig ball signed by Mantle with a No. 7 inscription. The ball comes with a full JSA letter. I also have a chance to buy a Roger Maris slate etching commemorating his 61 season. I'm told that Maris had these etchings made (61 total), and distributed them to close friends. The slate is numbered 43/61, and comes with a card signed by Maris identifying the slate as being presented to Julie Isaackson, who was a close friend. The card comes with a JSA cert for the Maris signature.
I've read that most Mantle signatures on Budig balls are bad. Do you think the Mantle signature looks good, and if so, do you have any idea of what the ball is worth? The current asking price is $1,000.
Has anyone heard of the Maris slate? I can't find any reference anywhere.
Thanks so much for your help!

I have not heard of these Maris slates before. It is difficult to see the signature on the COA, but from what I can see, it his his style.
the Mantle ball looks good and if it is indeed on a Budig ball, it would be extremely rare and probably worth the $1000.00 price tag.
I agree with Terrier...The Mantle ball is no question authentic....it is steep but its a sweet piece...
Thanks again for your help! Still deciding what to do with the Maris slate. I'd like to have it, but it is very expensive.
Have a great day.
May I ask what is a Budig ball? (for future reference).
