I've been looking for a signed copy of "Where the Wild Things Are" and I found a seller who has one for a reasonable price. Does this look like an authentic signature? Thanks! (sorry for the double post - I deleted the original post because I realized I had posted in the wrong forum).
Do you think the seller might send you a clearer picture? I'm not loving it at first glance (the sketch in particular seems off), but a better picture would give it more of a fair shake. Also, confirming that date would help (Is it 66? I can't tell), as his signature did evolve somewhat over time.
It's a little odd to me that a sketch of one of the Wild Things is inscribed "Max", which is the name of the boy in the book. It would be akin to someone drawing a Munchkin and inscribing it "Dorothy". I suppose stranger things have happened, but it could also be a red flag for a forger who doesn't care to be bothered with the pesky details.
