Hello everyone!

Steve advices me to post pictures in the forum to have some opinions about the sketch i won on a Knaizs auction (april 2022).

I've seen some similar sketch on Juliens auction but i need some confirmation.

If you think it's a fake one, I will cancel it!

Thanks for your help and advices!

 Hi,

I posted the Knaisz doodles on the 'Michael Jackson Drawings (Miscell inc. Historic portraits and Disney Characters) last November.  It;s on p138 of the thread

In my view the Knaisz drawings are fakes and are modelled after some genuine drawings sold earlier at Juliens.  Personally I would avoid this seller.   The drawing is not an exact copy, but the face is very similar to the Juliens' drawing shown in the comparison attached.

I've seen genuine drawings for sale at Juliens with good provenance ie from the collection of someone who definitely knew MJ, but in my opinion (from examining MJ drawings and doodles since 2009) MJ didn't draw sketches or doodles very often, and the majority offered for sale 'everywhere' (ebay, auction sites etc) are fakes.  Wascher did a huge amount of work to confirm that several high-volume sellers of 'MJ drawings' were just drawing and signing the items themselves.  This particular Knaisz  forger isn't identified (as far as I know), but frankly it could be by anyone or their kid brother/ sister.

Thanks Lizzie for your answer and your point of view!

Definitely, I will cancel my order and will avoid Knaizs...

I hope you will be successful!

Genuine MJ drawings are very rare.  I have seen only 5 or 6 genuine drawings (or groups of drawings eg from the same genuine MJ-associate) for sale since 2009.  And many hundreds of fakes.

The most reliably-identified MJ doodles were those from sales pre-2009 eg the Guernsey's 'Jackson warehouse' sale.  However, be aware that there are very many fake copies of these doodles, as the 'MJ Historic drawings thread' illustrates.
