Hey all! My boss has this autographed Michael Jordan RPM Nissan photo he isn't sure is authentic or not. It's definitely a live signature (inks bleeding a little and paper indentation), but the middle-end of his first and last names seem more "pronounced" than how he typically seems to sign. They lived in the Durham area during the time this would've been signed. Any thoughts would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

Derek

At quick glance it looks good to me.

I believe this is a stamped autograph.

When you enlarge the autograph, the uniform bleed indicates it is stamped and not a live autograph.

It does appear to be a stamp of his early autograph based on the formation which looks correct.

Hey thanks guys for the feedback! Randy that's a good point I didn't notice the uniformity of all of the bleeding. I didn't mention though that the indent marks push through to the back in spots and there's a part where it bleeds through (bottom of the J). Would a stamp do that, or do you think it would be an autopen? Then, would an autopen bleed evenly throughout the "autograph" like that too? Thanks (:

It is possibly an autopen as the pen pressure would be the same throughout the autograph and that would explain the even bleeding and the impression going through to the back of the photo.

Either way, I don't think it is an authentic Jordan autograph but that is just my opinion.

As far as the letter formation, it looks like his autograph late at UNC or in his early NBA days so if it is a live signature, I would say "likely authentic."

I would search and see if you can find an identical photo with an autograph and see if they are an exact match.

Randy, good call on looking for similar photos.  I didn't locate the exact basketball image, but this link leads to a baseball one that seems to have the same exact stamp/autopen signature!

Thanks a lot for your help...

These were secretarial stamped pieces and or autopens...All of them have that Tell tail as randy pointed out.
