Just saw this post on the bay. It is so sad just reading the seller provenance on how he obtained this Nirvana memorabilia and believing that it is authentic all these years.
Up for auction is an Original Authentic Kurt Cobain, Chris Novoselic, Dave Grohl, Pat Smear 1993 Era Nirvana Signed In Utero Print. Signed during the original release of In Utero, this print was seen by my family and I at Stars Memorabilia in Aspen, Colorado attached to the Hard Rock Cafe during one of our annual family Ski Trips to the Snowmass/ Aspen area. It was in the store (Stars) which was directly affiliated with Hard Rock Cafe Aspen. I was 12 at the time and was a huge Nirvana Fan and remarked to my dad how cool it would be to have their autographs. Even writing to Kurt the resinating affect his music had on my psyche and life. Not knowing at the time the level of Superstardom this band had yet to be achieved. Obviously after the very depressing death for me and many others of Kurt Cobain. The following Christmas I unwrapped this framed gem along with my brother receiving the 1992 All Star Hockey Team Jersey sighned by the whole team including Wayne Gretzky!. My father originally purchased the framed print from stars for me directly after we saw it hanging that day for $495. It was purchased right after the release of In Utero and again their level of superstardom and alternative rock legends had not been recognized yet by those selling the Print. Everyone knew that they were a big band but did not know yet just how big they would soon become. After the death of Kurt Cobain. The price tag is still on the back of the frame!. I however cannot find the original letter of authentication or original certificate if any at all was provided with the purchase. This has been due to the fact that my family has had to move multiple times and a divorce between my parents ensued not long after Kurt's death. If there was an authentication letter at all in the first place. The Nirvana print signed by all four members of Nirvana at the time in Red Sharpe is an original and guaranteed authentic signed print. The print is the size of the actual record In Utero. The containing the print is original and has been sealed and stored in an air conditioned safe ever since Christmas 1993. This is an extremely rare autographed print and I would only part with it for a very lofty bounty. I have collected many other original nirvana related memorabilia including all the original magazines featuring Kurt after his death. (Spin, Rolling Stone, People) and also own an original 1996 Jag-Stang guitar with vintage red pickguard which I still play today. My brother used to have a lefty Sonic Blue Mustang from 94 until it got stolen from his band member at the time in 1998. I am a huge nirvana fan and have a history with original cd's and memorabilia from them ever since they dropped in 1991. This item is authentic and I will only sell to someone who knows Nirvana and talks with me directly>
This signed Nirvana In Utero is fake in my opinion. Anyone familiar with Stars Memorabilia?? Are they affiliated with Hard Rock Cafe??

this looks rather poor IMO, ive never seen pat sign anything like that the kurt is really impossible to say altough it looks acward to me the chris looks the best of them all and even that im sure would have been signed "krist" plus the nice neat spacing on it and all in the same red marker. id say its a safe bet its fake
The Pat Smear signature is the dead giveaway. Krist Novoselic would have signed Krist instead of Chris in 1993 when In Utero was released in Sept 1993.
I am the owner and am currently taking new pics and getting a psa/dna quickopinion. I will send it in to them for authentication if it passes the quickopinion. I did some research as to the Hard Rock Cafe in Aspen that was closed in 2000. And the stars memorabilia where the Nirvana Autographed In Utero Print was obtained. They were both businesses that my family and I went to back in '93. It was purchased for $500 back then by my father and the store was somehow connected to The Hard Rock cafe back then. I am listing it on ebay with Quickopinion approval a day or so.
Let us know when you get the result from the quick opinion. I will be surprise if they give you a thumbs up on this piece.
WIll do, I am listing it today. I don't see why they would have sold us something not genuine from that store. We even have an all-star hockey jersey we bought at the same time with wayne gretzky and the all star nhl team from that year that my brother still has. The business as well as the hard rock cafe in aspen were closed in 2000 but the google street maps showed the store exactly as I remember it from '94 with a High end Rolex Retail Store in it's place now. I have the address and even google street mapped the place and the old Hard Rock Cafe. It said it was a memorabilia and novelty store we bought it from in business pages referencing stars memorabilia. I am thinking it was a promotional signing by Nirvana and that is why the Signatures are a bit different with Kurdt's Cursive and all. But I have seen many Dave and Chris signatures and they are pretty spot on to the one's I have. The kurdt when put with is plain non cursive writing looks pretty similar as well to his K and u and the bottom of the k and crossing of the t. We will just see what PSA/DNA determines. Thanks for inquiring about this piece. Ive held on to it all these years and I would be very thankful if it truly is real. I will probably hold on to it for my lifetime if it is.

It was bought in early January or February '94 before Kurt died. It has a $475 price tag which would have been an honest bounty for an Alive Kurt Cobain/ Nirvana sighed print back then before the scene had ended. I know we got it in '94 because we skiid in snowmass that february and went to eat and hang out in Aspen and my father held onto it until christmas '94 when he revealed to me the print. We both remarked on how much it would be worth in the future then with the death of kurt eight months earlier. The revealing of the divorce with my parents and selling of our large estate was told to my brother and I the following spring 1995.
