Hi everyone,
I hope that you can help. I recently acquired my first Paul autograph and from reading your great forum, learned just how much of a minefield collecting his autograph can be.
This signature has been given a nod of approval from: PSA, R R Auctions, and Roger Epperson. My problem (not evident from the original auction images posted) with it is that it seems too well thought out and deliberate compared to the dozens of examples I have looked up for comparison. I'm not sure if it has any bearing, but the consignor reported acquired it after Paul's 7/7/13 show in Ottawa. Fourteen people were accommodated with autographs at the airport that night after the show and this was Paul's Music and Animation Collection DVD signed for the consignor's daughter.
Any expertise you can bring to helping me determine its authenticity from your unbiased perspectives would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks very much for your time & thoughts,
Philip

Hi Devon, thanks so much, glad to be here. I've already learned so much on so many subjects from the streams represented here. We in "the autograph wilderness" surely appreciate all of the commentary that otherwise would not be available. I had wondered if Paul signed a little differently if not harried and hurried with just a few folks present in the wee hours of the morning in an airport terminal, rather than at a massive signing for many hundreds or having something thrust into his car window, etc. Thank you again for your valued opinion...
that is probably one of the nicer examples of Paul's recent signatures, and could almost be referred to as a full name signature compared to some of the scribbles that we have seen.
Hi terrier, I'm the new kid on the block on this site, but from your previous posts, I surely value your expertise. I can breath a little easier, I just wish collecting wasn't full of unscrupulous individuals trying to pull a fast one on the unwary.
Nice genuine piece
I appreciate your time on this one, Dan. You can never be too sure and many heads are better than one in ID-ing the real thing.
Hi Richard. I surely appreciate your valuable input. To be frank, I shared your concern on the deliberate & neatness factors. Even though it has been vetted by three reputable entities, there is just something so careful about the signature that prompted me to come here for other opinions. You can never be too sure with all of the fake Paul's out there. I see what you mean about your HMV signatures (congratulations!) and I do see some similar characteristics in the record sleeve signature that you posted. If it were super-carefully faked, wouldn't there be hesitations & ink build up indicating "thinking about it"? Thanks again, you have given more food for thought on this piece.
it is difficult to compare the fluidity of a sharpie signature vs one signed in pen such as the one you have, in my opinion.
I agree terrier. Some letter form characteristics should be consistent whatever was used to sign though, correct?
