After I attended a speech by President Obama at National Police Week 2013, on the grounds of the Capitol, I e-mailed the White House.

In the e-mail, I thanked the president for his time, for taking over an hour in 90 plus degree heat, with no shade, talking to, shaking hands with the family of the police officers killed in 2012. I was sincere and respectful in the e-mail, telling how I respected and appreciated all he did that day.

I sent the e-mail in mid May and forgot all about it. In late September or Early October, at least 4 months later, I received a letter from the White House. Very surprised because I had not asked for any reply or anything. I received a letter on official White House letterhead with a raised presidential seal.

I have attached a photograph of the letter. I am wondering if President Obama truly signed this letter. On the back, which I can take a pic of, the ink of the signature bleeds through in some spots.

Would it take so long, and would the letter even have been sent if it's not genuine?

Thanks to everyone for your help, I appreciate your time.

Sorry, but I'm pretty sure that's an auto pen.

Thank you very much. I truly figured as much, but wanted more opinions from you guys.

hi Mike

Can you let me know how to judge auto pen sign?

Hi Gerald,

I only know this from experience. I was offered two Obama books with what seemed to be the same signature. I then googled Barack Obama autopen examples and saw that they matched up. With autopen signatures you'll see no change in pressure/size of the signature.
Definitely autopen..

Definitely an autoprint. Look an another example

Thanks very much for your time and information. I do appreciate everyone helping me learn about it.
