This is actually the third time I've tried for Marino. I wrote about the first experience on my website..

Tracking down quarterback Dan Marino

This time was a little bit better. He was in town promoting a new Anthony's Pizza location which apparently he has part ownership in. Myself, my brother, and a couple friends went down to try for him. He was pretty nice. The most interesting moment was when my brother got his football signed and Marino took it and said "Go long" and passed it to my brother who did catch it.

All in all, I was able to get 3 items done. A football, 8x10 photo, and went ahead and put him on a note card which can easily be framed and matted with a photo.

Check out my website at TopSignatures.com   -- Thanks!

cool

Why is it you get so bent out of shape when someone dont want to sign for you? Why are you entitled to free autographs ? Because YOU stood somewhere to ask for something for free (which you turn around and sell?), and dont you feel sleezy lying to people when you say "I am not selling these" and you totally are?

I am all for IP collecting, hell I do it. I just dont get the whole theory of I cant afford to meet these guys so I sell stuff they give me for free so I can.

I'm not "bent out of shape" at all if they don't sign. It is what it is and it's out of my control. Plus where are these comments even coming from? You don't even know me.

I keep way more than I ever offer for sale, I'm definitely a collector first. This is an expensive hobby though with the costs of buying autographs, items to be signed, displays, notebooks, things to protect your items, etc etc.

And I don't feel "sleezy" at all. Sometimes you have to bend the truth for some of these people. I'd love to see you go up to someone and say "Hey, I've got 4 items here. This one I'm keeping and these other 3 I'm gonna list on ebay."   Good luck getting those signed buddy!

Perfect example -- I tried for actor Jeff Daniels before who went around doing some country guitar act. My brother, a couple friends, and I approached him after the show and the first thing he asked was "Did you guys see the show?"  We didn't, but you obviously don't say that. So we said comments about how we enjoyed it and he did a great job and such.

Two other collectors approach him and he asks the same thing, however they said no they didn't see the show. His response, "Get lost" and he didn't sign.

It's just like in the movie Ghostbusters at the end when Gozer asks them "Are you a God?" and Ray (Aykroyd) says no, then all hell breaks loose with the Stay Puft Marshmellow and such. To which Winston (Ernie Hudson) tells him afterward.. next time if someone asks if you're a God.. say yes!

Ghostbusters - Are you a God? SAY YES!
