Are you saying that the football helmet is a clear lie?  Or are you talking about that baseball?

The baseballs Ryan posted are not pre-certified by PSA/DNA. The football helmet you pictured is authentic. Just confirm with the seller which auction house he bought it from but that is the way the auction houses use the PSA/DNA pre-certification.

Ryan, First off I want to thank you for your comments.  They are helpful and much appreciated.  He bought the helmet from another person a while back and never mentioned an auction house.  He stated that it was a contact that he had done business with multiple times and that the guy ended up giving him a great deal on it because of all of the business they had together.  What makes you say this football is authentic?  Just curious?  Couldn't anyone create a "Pre-Certified PSA/DNA"? It looks pretty easy to do...just take the picture of the item and post it in word, then insert a picture of PSA/DNA and then write a little description.  Just thoughts and hoping you all can help clarify before I make a purchase that is costly.

The actual helmet that sold in that auction has been authenticated. Obviously, someone knows who the auction house was that sold it or you would not have the picture of the lot in the auction.

If the current owner did not purchase it from the auction house, then you are correct, it could have been switched.

If any of the pictures you have match the one pictured in the auction, then it is the same one. I did not look closely enough and the pictures posted of the page are not clear enough to match up.

You might be able to google the item and find the auction house who sold it. Based on the information provided, it apppears to be legit.

By the way, this if Randy, not Ryan.

Sorry about that Randy.  Got it mixed up.

The first picture matches the one on the auction house description. Check out the Favre and the #87. It is the same item so you should be safe with it.

Any items with an auction house description like the one you pictured from the auction catalog showing the PSA/DNA Pre-Certified Logo have been passed as authentic but again there will be no actual LOA unless the winning bidder submitted it for the full LOA and paid the fees for it either directly to PSA/DNA or possibly through the auction house.

Joe, I'm no Packers expert but I see no red flags on your piece. If worried, you should post it under "Authenticity Opinions" with an appropriate title/pix.

I was posting here just to warn that the "Pre-Certified" is not a 100% guarantee and should be noted as such. As always, it's about the signatures, not the pieces of paper that comes with them.

Here is the helmet with all the signatures

They are legit if done via an auction house. PSA stopped offering certification services for the large auction houses (Goldin, Heritage, SCP, etc) and offer pre-certification. They review it, mark the item with an infared ink, and a letter which you can send in for a full certification at a discount.

It's not guaranteed to get full authentication
