Great - thanks

Well... here's the most well-known and most often sold Sammy Davis Jr. autograph. It's a well-known secretarial too. They're very often almost identical and include inscriptions like "Peace" or "Peace & Love". In authentic examples, the Jr. is usually below the baseline of the rest of the signature. These ones often have the "Jr." below the signature entirely. As for Gregory Peck, I don't see many secretarials, mostly just badly done forgeries and a number of good signatures

top stuff - thanks Brick

Any thoughts Brick or anyone??

This one could be a reprint?

Supposedly Davis plus Rowan and Martin

Steve - is this in the right forum????

Hey, Grant. This is the first time I'm seeing these Sammy pictures you posted. The first one looks rather shaky but not too much like his later examples to me. It looks like a reprint of a secretarial or a forgery.

The second one is probably genuine. I've seen ones where Sammy doesn't loop through the "S" in Sammy with the end of the "D" in Davis and then crosses through both of them afterward as what I would presume is a finishing touch. That and the "avi" in "Davis" make me think it was a fast sign.

Here's a perfect early example of Sammy's signature that sold on eBay today or yesterday.

As I look at the first image more, the more I believe it's just a forgery. I don't think that's Sammy's nor his secretary's handwriting. I don't think it's a secretarial, the first big reason, because the "P" in "Peace" is made without lifting the pen in secretarials I've seen. Here there's a lift in the pen to finish the "P". Also, this is clearly a very small and under-formed "s" in "Davis" which isn't consistent with Sammy's authentic signature nor his secretarial. Then there's the shakiness. A lot of problems in the signature itself beyond the inscription. It gets worse the more I see it. Anyway, say so if you're still interested in Sammy Davis Jr. or Gregory Peck information/material.

Thanks Brick - yep still intested in information/material and sigs

Thanks

A few Sammy examples.

This one you can see is quite similar to the postcard I posted the other day.

This one has the same horizontal squiggly line through the "S" in the "Sammy" and the "D" in "Davis" that your second example does.

This is just a cool SP.

It's sad that these two blatant Sammy secretarials are currently up to $150 on eBay. With four days still left on them.

Maybe I'll put together a quick thread on Sammy and some differences between his real autograph and the secretarial.

Much appreciated for your comments Brick - i at least would appreciate a quick treatise (???) on davis

Thanks again

A bad fake or real and any ideas why either way???

Thanks to all
