Finding an internet forum that actually serves a purpose other than a platform for drama is kind of like finding a William Shakespeare autograph in grannys attic( see...i have learned jest a little since i been here!)
Back during the summer i came across a Joe Louis autograph and at that time i could have started my own forum about what i DID'NT know about the autograph world. So, using my limited google skills i hit the computer. My first concern of course was "could this possibly be real?" When i tell the story in the middle of feb '17 of how i came to posses this autograph maybe you will see why. My first go round with this wicked machine led me here to autograph live. After spending some time learning to navigate the site and reading a bit i said "what the hell" and posted the picture of said autograph in 'Is That Autograph Real?" forum. Well it was'nt long before i got a short response from Mr. Don Webster stating he thought it looked 'good',mans got a 'good' eye as the autograph was given a "9" strength rating from PSA(im assuming a 9 is 'good'?) A quick side note here...im sure Mr. Webster is still banging his head on a wall somewhere screaming "WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY...why did i have to be a nice guy and answer that rednecks post?" Because if i have asked one question i have asked a million and half since then!
Let me stop rambling and try and wrap this up....i discovered that im one of those strange people who enjoy researching and learning about the person more than having a piece of paper that they happen to have signed(no dissrespect intended,im aware that im the very tiny minority here)....well i decided to sell the autograph and after a little thinking i concluded that listing it here would be/look a little fishy with me being the 'new' guy and just asking about it's authenticity. Well i shotgun Dons inbox with questions....how? where? who? how much?...etc...etc...etc...and while he may not have known the answer to one or two questions right offit did'nt take him long to find out and get back to me...well after many PMs and emails and getting to learn ALOT more about this bidness...the autograph is at Huggins and Scott auction house under the care of Mr. Khyber Oser on the recommendation of a Mr.Marren of the Graceland auction place all by the efforts of Mr. Don Webster helping the 'new' guy whos so ignorant of autographs that its funny and sad at the same time.
Well....anyway, i may never be an autograph 'dude' but i have alot of newfound knowledge and respect for you guys that are. After spending hours reading AL i now know that if i ever become interested in Michael Jackson autographs(was never a fan, even being a teen in the 80's and a hair-metal fan...hanging head and blushing.. but do think 'Dirty Dianna"was and still is a pretty awesome damn song)that there is one particular forger out there getting rich from faking these autographs...and how does a retired nurse from south Ms know this?....one or two dedicated people on this forum keeping up with him and keeping others informed.....so thanks folks and everyone else here....and a great big special THANK YOU to Mr. Don Webster!!!!!!...who is not only knowledgeable in this strange and ever changing world but has shown he has the patience of Job and karma is at this very moment finding him that 'special' autograph and figuring out how to surprise him with it......i think if i ever take up this hobby/obsession my 'special' auto is gonna be Janis Joplin....and if i can learn to be kind and helpfull as mr webster is now it'll be on the nekkid concert poster.......
Thanks Again, it cant be said enough....Randy
(and in ending this post i will shamelessly plug said autograph and upcoming auction and act as if it were just a part of the post.)
While this process is n is nowhere near the end i would still highly recommend Mr.Oser and the folks at Huggins Scott just on Mr.Osers write up on the autograph which may be viewed here...
