I recently acquired an official document to the US Consulate General that Greta Garbo signed one of her last days in Stockholm (on June 20, 1925) before leaving Sweden for the US by ship (on June 26).

In the letter she refers to her mentor Mauritz Stiller. She states that the objective with her trip to the US was ”to study different moving picture - and other theatres in New York perhaps also in California”.

This might have been the first time Garbo wrote something in English. Little would she know by then what the future would bring.
