Birdy last night in Chicago. This is her first US headline tour. I'd been looking forward to this show for a long time, but it actually blew away my expectations. She just turned 20 and is touring with her third album. 22 songs - way more than most artists of her age would be expected to play.

What artist gives you the best value for money eg pearl jam play long concerts. 2.5 hours or more.

The best concerts aren't necessarily the longest ones. GNR played 3 hours a few years ago, but I probably should have left about an hour into it.

That's a really good question Paul, could be debated forever I'm sure. I find the smaller bands at smaller venues are the best value a lot of times. Tom Keifer comes to mind, $30 or so and he kills it. I paid a lot for the Stones last year, didn't feel like it was worth it. Paid a lot for McCartney and Roger Waters, worth every penny. Very funny Rich! Hank Williams Jr. And David Allen Coe still owe me my money back after seeing them years ago.

Honestly, two of the best live performers I've ever seen (newer artists Aurora and Wolf Alice) were $15 with free parking. My favorite band was $20 when I first say them. Two successful albums later, they're still only in the $25 - 40 range for headline shows, despite a more complex stage setup and longer set. Makes it hard for me to want to spend much more.

On the topic of concerts, is anyone going to free shows thanks to the Ticketmaster lawsuit? I got 24 free GA's, but there's almost nothing in the area to use them on.

In my acct I have 16 free tickets, some small coupons. All tickets are lawn or GA. It's first come so by the time I looked at the shows all were sold out. And I looked the day it came out. More shows are to be announced. So this is not a great thing as far as I see. I might use a ticket somewhere like the Fillmore if possible, since all GA.

There's a lot of crap in there, but if you keep sifting through you'll find some interesting stuff. Unfortunately, we're stuck with Tinley Park here in the Chicago area (Lawn GA is pure trash - it's not worth wasting the gas) and essentially nothing in Wisconsin. Then there's the matter of the codes flat out not working for most events.
I have a feeling this initial push is just to move a few tickets for shows that aren't selling well. The free tix don't expire for four more years, so maybe it's worth it to wait.
The coupon codes for a small amount off seem to work for all shows.
