For those of you who have ever read any of the Black Stallion books by Walter Farley, his eldest son Steven, has taken the reins since his father died over 20 years ago. I'd been able to correspond with him via e-mail back in 2001 and he had sent me a postcard featuring a scene from the 1979 movie which he had signed and dated just after the 9/11 attacks. In 2004, I mailed a few Black Stallion books for him to sign. In January 2009, just after the release of his (then) newest book.....a first edition I was able to meet him in person in Venice, FL where his mom and younger brother live, at a special event at the Venice Public Library honoring the 30th anniversary of the movie.  I had the book with me and, as it turned out, both his mom and his brother were there. I took the opportunity to have all 3 sign the book and I also had Tim (his brother) sign the postcard his brother had sent me in 2001.

I found this great book at the Salvation Army today! The Great American Jobs Scam by Greg LeRoy! Not only is it signed by the author, but it also reveals the truth about the big tax breaks that corporations get and the non-existant theory of "job creation"! This book is a real eye opener!

Today, I received signed copies of Strength of a Promise by Sarah Storme and The Last Victim by Kevin O'Brien! I got these directly from the authors through the mail!

Today, I received a signed bookplate from Greg Oliver. He was one of the editors of SLAM! Wrestling: Shocking Stories from the Squared Circle.

I got two signed bookplates and a nice handwritten letter from Giles Blunt today! I stuck one of the bookplates in my copy of By the Time You Read This.
