Any success getting artists via venue?

I am considering trying to get a lesser known artist (Frank Iero from My Chemical Romance) at a smaller venue and was wondering if there are any chances of success by writing to them via venue. Has anyone here had success writing to an artist via venue?

Yes, I have had success with several country singers:  Miranda Lambert, Loretta Lynn, Reba McEntire, and Vince Gill.  You just have to time it right.  I usually mail mine out to arrive at the venue 3-4 days before the show/event.
