Hello fans, I am trying to send a cd cover and a photo for an autograph request to an upcoming concert venue but I am first wondering how effective it is to send these types of requests through this method. Have you guys done this in the past? Is there a good possibility I can get the items signed, or is it a total waste of time?  Thanks.

I want to try Tom Petty and Peter Frampton via venue. I tried and failed with Frampton before.

googd luck with Peter Frampton. I have tried him arriving and leaving venues a few times over the years myself and he is one quick human being. He is straight out of the S.U.V. and into the venue in 5 seconds. It is the same at the hotel. He doesnt really acknowledge that anyone is there waiting for him.

I work at a facility with a concert venue and our policy is to not forward those items on to the artist.  We have a very strict policy that prohibits even our employees and family members from asking for autographs.  Access to the artists is strictly enforced by both the venue and the artists security.  I am assuming all facilities have similar policies.  Most artists spend very little, if any time, backstage at the venues nowawdays.  Almost all of them will stay on their buses right up until they take the stage and as soon as the show is done they are back on the buses and gone.  I have not received a single autograph from any artist at our venue, even though I generally have full back stage access.  You would think as a collector I would be frustrated by that, but seeing it from the other side of the fence, they are there to do a job and move onto the next venue.  You best bet is to see if you can catch them outside as they get back onto their bus.  Good Luck!

Thanks Bill, that was such a resourceful amount of information.  I was skeptical about mailing through the venue, but after reading your post, I think I am going to refrain. It will save me time and postage. Thanks again.
