Hey everyone,

I am brand new here. I was offered this Marilyn Monroe  photo by a friend and I thought we should probably ask around to see whether it is authentic.

What do you all think?

There are things that don't match up to the usual looking MM signature, but the hand seems close.

The photo was taken in 1957. I am not sure when it was printed.

Thanks for any wisdom you have to share. :)

Yes, it's not a bad forgery. Some are laughable. I first thought yours resembled a Secretarial at first glance - some forgers actually copy those accidentally.

It is a little like Style C on my Marilyn Monroe Secretarial examples blog:

Secretarial Examples here: http://marilynmonroesecretarials.blogspot.com/

But no, just a hint of style c.

I think this style is easier to forge than the one near continuous crazy fast typical signings of hers. You can do this signature in pieces. I do see a middling or slowish pace of signing too, certainly not fast.

Thank you Eric, for your input. Bela Lugosi was a vampire though wasn't he? able to sign after death :-) at least for www.autographstar.com

No problem, Pauline. Oddly, in reality, Lugosi was terrified of death!

Google is wonderful.

"They have a dedicated in house signing team I guess. " - Pauline

Yes, but dedicated to what? ;)

Thanks Pauline and Eric.

Eric, I wrote to the COA company before your response to ask for some background on this signing.I will be certain to post their response...if there is one. :)

Add a note asking how they managed to get Lugosi to sign a Silver Age August 1964 comic book after dying (permanently) in 1956 :)

I'd steer clear of this operation. And you are welcome :) I enjoy finding these stupid mistakes. The comic artwork is a dead giveaway.
