This post is for us to add any other discovered questionable Michael Jackson items/examples sold by Julien's auction other than from the December 2nd, 2012 Tompkins-Bush sale.

Examples such as secretarial, autopen, letterpress, additional unfamiliar, unknown signature style forgeries (other than the two T&B styles)... along with items we feel need to be looked into further - such as unsigned iconic Michael Jackson costumes (subject to being referred to as STOLEN personal property).

Anything you discover that seems reasonably questionable (in relation to Julien's sales of MJ items prior to Dec. 2nd), please add it here for us all to discuss together.

Steve had suggested that I start this thread a couple weeks ago, and so I will be relisting some of the "other than T&B" signature examples I already posted on our main blog.

Thanks everyone.

..............

Note: These are all of the examples I had previously posted on our main blog thread http://live.autographmagazine.com/forum/topics/michael-jackson-sign...  ... plus I've added MOREadditional examples (within their respective categories) that I've found sold in Julien's previous auctions.

Some examples of secretarial MJ signatures sold as authentic MJ signatures by Julien's:

A classic MJ secretarial signature has the tell-tale loop after the J.

I learned to spot these from the excellent MJ article by Kimberly Cole in 2009 Autograph magazine. Here's the relevant excerpt:

From the Juliens June 23, 2012 Sports Legends and Music Icons auction -

Lot 869 - Sold for $576.

Julien's Description: "A Michael Jackson signed MJJ Productions promotional photograph housed in a silver tone frame. The photograph, which shows Jackson with a black panther, is inscribed "To Bob/ Love/ Michael Jackson" in black ink. 11 3/4 by 9 3/4 inches, framed"

http://www.julienslive.com/view-auctions/catalog/id/72/lot/28817/

From the Juliens June 24, 2010 Music and Icons auction -

Lot 445  -  Sold for $53,125.  What's scary is the purported "story" provenance on this.

Julien's Description:  A black felt fedora with black gross grain ribbon hat band. The interior hat band has "Michael Jackson" printed in gold and the underside of the brim is signed "Love Michael Jackson" in silver marker. This hat was gifted to President George H.W. Bush during Michael Jackson's visit to the White House on February 5, 1990. The hat is accompanied by two letters on White House engraved stationary from Larry Branscum of the National Security Council explaining that the President gave the hat to his assistant Patty Presock who gifted it to Branscum. Presock told Branscum that Jackson had handed the hat to the President saying, "here, Mr. President, perhaps one of your grandchildren might like to have this."
