I liked the whole show every episide was awesome although we lost many dear actors we can not forget the wonderful show that the gave us that hollywood produced
Thanks. It's encapsulated, so I will probably leave it like that. Outside of a check, it's the only authentic Andy I've come cross in quite awhile. As you mentioned, TONS of secretarial out there. He really wasn't a fan friendly kinda man. I think he enjoyed his privacy. I can respect that. He was a tremendous talent.
Holy smoke Joe you have me beat on watching the show. I watch about 5-7 hours a week lol. I loved it when I was a kid and it was on CBS it was always my favorite show.
Yes, I have some sick addiction to it, lol. I watch it on METV from 8-9 EST M-F then I have netflix just for Andy and usually watch 10 hours on saturday and 10 hours on Sunday. That's the standard routine lol.
I just have the dvds but when it is on TV I always watch it no matter how many times I have seen it. I loved that and Mayberry R.F.D. and The New Andy Griffith Show. Sadly the new Andy Griffith Show never took off they even had Barney do an episode and Goober and Emmett. I was so sad when they cancelled it and you cannot find it on dvd. Think it was only 13 episodes.
I couldn't get into RFD. I disliked Sam. I couldn't get into the color episodes, disliked Warren...(greatly). I guess for me the first 3 seasons were the best.
Hey everybody. I'm a new member on this forum and wanted to introduce myself. I've been collecting and dealing in "Mayberry" related signatures for over 30 years. It's the best show ever in my opinion. I've been fortunate enough to have met many of the performers from the show. I have or have had just about any autograph from the show you could think of. I buy and sell from time to time on eBay. My user name is andyfan1. It's always good to talk with other "andyfan's" about this great TV show. Take care - Gary
I am saddened by the amount of forged signatures being sold on eBay and the Internet in general. My particular area of expertise is the Andy Griffith Show. The amount of forged Griffith signatures is mind-boggling. I'm estimating around 99% is pure junk.
I have been collecting and dealing in Mayberry related signatures for more than 30 years. Most signatures you see were obtained through the mail and were signed by Andy's long-time personal Manager, Richard. O. Linke. I learned this fact from Mr. Linke himself.
It is very hard to find one authentic signed photo of Mr. Griffith. Some sellers routinely sell "signed" photos. It is plain and simple forgery. I have contacted many of the sellers and voiced my concerns. Some have been honorable and removed their bogus items. Some tell me to mind my own business.
All you have to do is look at the photos being offered on eBay. They vary from seller to seller. Even the same seller's autographs differ. Some will have an upper case "G" while some will have a lower case "g". Sometimes the "h" is continued to cross the "t". Sometimes it is not. While signatures vary with time and age, the basic structure is still the same.
Granted there are a few authentic signed photos out there but they are very rare. Most authentic signed Griffith photos are not shots from the TV show. They are studio portrait photos and most always inscribed to someone. Your best bet to get an authentic signature is to purchase one of his personal checks. They pop up from time to time.
Mr. Griffith never attended any reunion show or autograph show. So if a seller tells you he got the signature at an event like that, they are being dishonest. Mr. Griffith did on occasion make public appearances but was very secluded. He had his own people with him and was very much protected.
Also beware of sellers who use the "Private Feedback" and "Private Auction" options. By using these options unsuspecting bidders can not be alerted to bogus items. I am very proud of my feedback and want as many people to see it as possible. Certificates of Authenticity (COA) mean absolutley nothing. If you'll fake an autograph what would keep you from faking a COA.
The bottom line is try to educate yourself on any item you are looking to buy. Search the Internet for other examples. Ask questions of your seller. An honest seller will be happy to field any questions and/or concerns you have about their item.
Thank you Gary I am certain your expertise will be of great value to those who enjoy collecting Andy Griffith Show autographs. If you know of anyone else who collect that might want to join this group please let them know. We welcome everyone who has an interest in TAGS or any actor that appeared on the show.
Gary would love for u to upload some of your tags autographs? Do I have any of the rare townspeople autographs would love to see some of the actors and actresses that you don't see everyday? Thanks
It is such a timeless show! the only autos I have of the cast is George goober Lindsey and a stamped auto of jim nabors. I also got an autograph picture from the actress who played Darlene darling about a year ago but do not remember her name.
I am so happy you have started this group! I love seeing example of signatures that I may have never seen had you not started this group! The people on here are so nice and helpful! Cant wait to see what the future holds for this group!!
FIFTH ANNIVERSARY OF THIS GROUP! Time certainly has a way of flying by and The Andy Griffith Show Collectors Group is now five years old. A lot has changed we have lost more and more of the wonderful actors and actresses from the show. I want to thank everyone who has contributed to this group. Hopefully a few people have found it of some benefit.
Scott although I do not have as much time as I had before to comment and add much to the site, I do try to read what you and others post. This is a very informative group. I have learned quite a bit. One on my reasons for joining was to inform collectors and sellers of all of the bogus Andy Griffith signatures I see on eBay and other sites. I hope we have helped out others. Also I am learning about the back stories of actors on the show on and off screen. Hope we can add new members and keep what we have. I learned something today, for some reason I never heard about Howard Morris being one of the main stars on the show "Your Show Of Shows" that debuted in 1950. One if my favorite memories I have is being first in his line to meet Howard to talk to him and get his autograph in New Castle Indiana during "Mayberry Days". He was energetic, funny just full of energy. So glad I have that memory. So Scott thank you for allowing me to be part of our little corner of Mayberry. May the fish always be biting. But don't take any of them to an aquarium. Lol
I've always looked for a Howard McNear signed picture as Floyd the Barber. Finally there is one at RR Auction. Amazing piece. I am wondering how high this will go...3415241_1.jpg
