Randy--welcome to Live! What were you looking for about Ray Charles autograph? Very few potentially real ones, and those that may be are quite controversial.

    Hi Randy,
All his signatures are questioned, because he signed so little--some say no at all, but I don't believe that. What you probably have is a secretarial by Vernon Troope, his valet and constant companion. I don't have one handy, but it's fairly big and flowing and easy to read. Ray went blind when he was little so his signature wouldn't likely have the polish of an adult's--and none that I've seen and felt could be real did.

I have some brail Playboys Vernon signed. We got together for lunch a number of years ago and he told me the story: Ray Charles was a voracious reader and left brail magazines in every hotel he stayed in. The housekeeping staff would always send them to his next stop, thinking he forgot them. The next hotel would take them up to his room...and on and on. Well they were getting sick of this, so Vernon had the brilliant idea of signing each magazine Ray Charles. Sure enough...no magazine was ever forwarded again.

Upload the signatures and I'll let you know.

yes you are correct the writing is BIG & flowing alright. I often wondered what was real..and what wasn't.
    Thanks Steve.

I am new to having my signatures authenticated. Is this an expensive procedure? Does anyone know of any good sources to provide validity to many of my best pieces. (without paying an arm and leg)

    Randy,

Sorry to give you some not so good news. Why don't you upload a couple? I'm not an expert.
