I've been looking for a nice signed photo of Mario Lanza. Most of the ones I've found the ink is horribly faded. Also, I've never been able to get anyone in the forum to verify a Mario Lanza signature.
That is great and I love that color ink it is my favorite that and green fountain pen. This color ink really seems to hold up well. I have quite a few from the 1950s-60s with it. He was wonderful in The Great Caruso.
Sadly, Mario seemed hell-bent on self-destruction. I know that his wife died a scant six months later. One of his daughters got hit by a car and died; his son died from a heart attack at age 50. My mother loved Mario.
If, by chance, you come across a legible signed Mario photo and you're not interested in buying it, drop me a line.
BTW, I'm sorry he wasn't able to play the lead in "The Student Prince." He would have been perfect. Have you ever heard the rumor that the mob had Mario bumped-off because he crossed some big mob boss?
I think I heard something about him and Lucky Luciano, but not sure if there is anything to that. I know he was very young when he died. I think they used the soundtrack of him for "The Student Prince." My collecting now is very narrow so not looking for Lanza. Will be glad to keep my eye out for him. I checked and Brucato has an album page, but it was sold. Maybe would be good to take a look at it. I do not know his signature at all since have never looked for him.
Classic. Very nice, Greg.
