Authenticity is Everything
Can anyone provide thoughts on the signed Buffalo Billplease, Looks good, But what do you think?
It's a tiny photo. There's not way to tell anything. Please upload a large one.
This may make it easier:
What is the title of the book it's in? What edition? What publishing dates are printed in the book?
From a distance it looks printed in the book, and doesn't look naturally signed. Is the ink of his autograph about the same color as the ink of the text? That's a sign of preprinted signature.
This is a business card with a genuine Buffalo Bill autograph. It's an especially nice one, too. Compare it to yours:
"What is the title of the book it's in? What edition? What publishing dates are printed in the book? From a distance it looks printed in the book, and doesn't look naturally signed..."
+1 this is what I was getting at yesterday.
OK, It is 1917 by John Stanton and not bad condition. The writing is not same as text, However i am unable to get closer at this time. Not sure of value as its been suggested it could be worth $1000 plus!
I looked at google and there is almost an identical signature on the cover of a book sold on Amazon. Hmm Too close and aim not so sure about the autograph anymore. Please check it out.
Thanks everyone for your help.
1917? Cody died on January 10th, 1917.
That is why I asked about the book. In "The Life and Adventures of "Buffalo Bill"" published in 1917 by Cody and Stanton, Stanton discusses Cody's death and burial...
I agree with you, John. The writing on the cover looks the same as what you posted, from a distance at least.
