You should ask frank about the photo and where it was taken, it looks like he is on acid.
Hi Paul, I did write to Frank regarding the circumstances surrounding the photo. He was kind enough to respond with the following.
Hi Jack,
The photograph was taken in June 1970. The Doors had just finished a 2-gig tour of the Pacific Northwest. Someone, maybe Jim, suggested we take the ferry from Vancouver, BC to Seattle. 3 or 4 of us agreed to join Jim, while the other Doors flew. On the ferry we met a young couple who wore flowers in their hair and big smiles on their sun-reddened faces. When we told them how much we admired the floral wreaths they wore, they reached into a sack and presented each of us with one. They told us that they were returning home from a wedding where the bridal party and guests wore these garlands. When they handed one to Jim. he hesitated and then grinning with amusement put it on his head. we all felt the calm spirituality the couple seemed to radiate. There were only a couple frames left on the roll of film in the camera, and now feel lucky to have been able to take this revealing, unposed portrait of Jim.
Best Wishes, Frank Lisciandro
That's the story he wrote me and really enjoyed it. Best Jack...
Thank you Richard and Paul. Best, Jack...
