Claudio Abbado (Milan, 26 June 1933 – Bologna, 20 January 2014) was an Italian conductor. Considered one of the greatest and most famous contemporary conductors at an international level, he is known for having led some of the most prestigious orchestras in the world, among which the Orchestra del Teatro alla Scala in Milan and the Berliner Philharmoniker stand out, of which he was the first and to date only Italian to become permanent director
