Pre-print for sure
Probably reproduced several million times on all kinds of Elvis images
Hello Don
Mr Longo has convinced me that the photo is a stamp. I asked him if the photo even as a stamped photo has any value due to its age. Plus I wondered how many may still be in circulation. He told me that you are the expert on Elvis.
I have no proof of this but this picture really was given to the customs agent who checked Elvis credentials when he crossed the border from Buffalo for the two concerts in Toronto I believe April 6, 1956.
The agent gave it to my wife when she was 14. My wife passed away in 2011. The agent was my wife's uncle. It is a nice story but there is no evidence and both individuals are dead.
Anyway, thanks for your website and helping me to determine if it has any value. I would like to let my own children know if's true worth. It likely has more value as a keepsake than as a collectable.
Sincerely,
John Borst
It has a wonderful story and beautiful memories attached to it, and those are truly priceless.
Eric & Don,
I got to thinking tonight as to whether or not I could find the photo on eBay or somewhere especially if there were over a million in print. Interestingly none were to be found. This only made me more curious. Then I found a promo photo by William Speer from 1955. I then did a search on his photos and the photo turned up under a Pinterest page of Speer's work. That I would assume does give it some cache. What do you think?
