Jodie Foster, alias Alicia Christian Foster (Los Angeles, November 19, 1962), is an American actress, director and film producer. She entered the world of advertising at just three years old and made her debut as an actress on television in 1968 at just six years old in the series Mayberry R.F.D. she was in the cinema four years later, appearing in the film Two Boys and a Lion. In 1976 she was chosen to star, alongside Robert De Niro, in Martin Scorsese's cult film Taxi Driver, which earned her her first nomination for the 1977 Academy Awards as best supporting actress. In 1989, thanks to the film Accused, she won her first Oscar as best leading actress. In 1992 she won her second Oscar for her starring role as Clarice Starling in The Silence of the Lambs and in 1994 she received a fourth nomination for her film Nell. In 2024 she received her fifth Oscar nomination for best supporting actress for Nyad. In addition to the two Oscars, she has received four Golden Globes, three BAFTA Awards, an Independent Spirit Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award.
