Johnny Depp, born John Christopher Depp II (Owensboro, June 9, 1963), is an American actor, director, film producer and musician. His career began in the eighties with small roles in films such as Nightmare on Earth, Platoon and, above all, in the television series The Police Academy Four. In the nineties he established himself as one of the greatest and most talented stars of his era, thanks to his partnership with director Tim Burton, for whom he starred in numerous cult films such as Edward Scissorhands, Ed Wood, Sleepy Hollow, and to other notable performances, such as in Cry Baby, Happy Birthday Mr. Grape, Dead Man, Donnie Brasco, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and The Ninth Door. Since the 2000s, he has alternated enormously successful films such as the Pirates of the Caribbean saga (where he played the protagonist Jack Sparrow), other collaborations with Burton (The Chocolate Factory, Sweeney Todd - The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, Alice in Wonderland, Dark Shadows) and the first two chapters of the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them series to more dramatic roles (The True Story of Jack the Ripper: From Hell, Neverland, Public Enemies). Over the course of his career he won a Golden Globe, out of ten total nominations, in the category of best actor in a musical or comedy film for Sweeney Todd and received three nominations for the Oscar as best leading actor for The Curse of the Black Pearl, Neverland and Sweeney Todd. Depp has often been among the highest-paid actors in Hollywood; between June 2009 and June 2010, according to Forbes magazine, he was the highest paid actor ever with an earnings of 75 million dollars, also occupying the first position on the list in 2012 with the same amount. He is considered among the sexiest men in the world.
