The inscription to me looks very similar to this one on a photo I bought, and the consensus by this forum was that it was fake.
So which is it?

The photo shown above is a fake
G'day Steve, Thanks for posting :) The first thing I'd like to note is that Sir Sean RARELY adds inscriptions to the items that he signs so that is something that makes you sit up and take note. When he does inscribe, then "Best Wishes" is, by far, his most favoured notation.
Now, there are several aspects of this hand-writing that make me want to steer well clear of it :(
I assume that the photo is an 8x10 and, if that is the case, this must be quite a LARGE completion ... seeing Sir Sean add a signature that covers so much of the photo is atypical.
In the known, legitimate exemplars that I have of Sir Sean's "Best Wishes" I have NEVER seen the "t" of "Best" be disjointed. Characteristically, Sir Sean's "Best" is a completely connected word with no pen lifts during the writing - his short, somewhat ugly, "s" flows straight on to a looped, curve "t" - not at all like what we see in this photo that is a lone, 'crucifix" letter "t".
The capital "B" is also highly atypical - in simple terms it is just too "neat" and nicely formed :) the loop at the base looks laboured and pronounced and flows into the "e" way too low on the backstroke :(
Similarly, if we move on to "Wishes" - the "w" is stand-alone and I've not seen\got any legitimate exemplars where that is the case. The "w" itself is wrong, it lacks the characteristic looping of Sir Seans's "w" and then doesn't flow, from the top, into the "i".
Actually, to keep this relatively short - the entire formation and structure of "ishes" is just highly atypical - it is just too neat, too precise and too well-formed. Sir Sean tends to sign quickly and it is common to find that deciphering individual letters - apart from the "w" and the final "s" is tough :)
As far as the signature goes - the big red flag for me is when I look at the three "n" - that formation is just all wrong .... sorry :(
My conclusion is, sadly, to agree with Dexter, above, and say that the inscription and signature on this photo are not legitimate exemplars of Sir Sean's handwriting and autograph.
Best wishes
David
Agree, 100% fake
