Dr. W. P. Murphy shared the 1934 Nobel Prize with George H. Whipple and George R. Minot for their pioneering work on pernicious anemia. Also, in 1934 Dr. W. P. Murphy, Boston, discovered that liver extract was a cure for agranulocytosis, a fatal blood disease.
