Lovely piece, Steve. I can't say I've ever seen too many of his sigs. Did you meet him? Or was it through the mail?

This one was through the mail. The address I used was:

Dick Van Dyke
23215 Mariposa DeOro St.
Malibu, CA 90265

I am fairly sure Dick's mail is secretarial. If you compare an in-person Dick to the mail it is obviously not the same signer.

I'm finding conflicting information on Dick's autographs through the mail, however I'm thinking you're right about it being a sec. I was able to find a few in person examples that were close to this, but the majority were pretty far off. While it is possible that it's like my in-persons from William Shatner (which look nothing alike), I think this one is going in the "sec" file for now. Thanks for the heads up!

All the 'God Bless' Dick VD autographs I've seen have been through the mail.  I have one also.  Finally met him in NYC a few years ago, and it looked different to me in person.  Close, but still different.

We would expect it to be 'close' as I am sure the signer has had many years to work on the signature and I am sure has no problem with obtaining an authentic example to use as an example.

I will try to find my IP examples. The slant and letter formation is so different that I personally believe the mail is secretarial. However, this is not something I have spent much time on.

The one I got in person says 'Hi'.  The ones he signed for others that night were the same.  I'd say that is a pretty good indicator for a real one.  None said 'God Bless'
