Michele Placido (Ascoli Satriano, 19 May 1946) is an Italian actor, director and screenwriter. Internationally, he is known for the role of Police Commissioner Corrado Cattani, played in the first four seasons of the famous television series The Octopus. He won the Silver Bear for Best Actor at the Berlin Film Festival for Ernesto by Salvatore Samperi and 4 David di Donatello. Since February 2021 he has been president of the Municipal Theater of Ferrara.
