Interpreter of light-hearted and affable characters, eclectic in dance and innovative in choreography, Kelly brought an energetic and athletic dance style to some of the major American musicals, such as An American in Paris (1951) and Singing in the Rain (1952).
The American Film Institute ranked Kelly fifteenth among the greatest stars in film history
