Perfect example of the self-made man, humble emigrant who became an international celebrity, «an inspiration for those who believe in the American dream» (John Ford)[1], he was the greatest singer of the American way of life, but also a mythmaker, because with his cinema he not only interpreted and represented the spirit of the times, but also contributed significantly to producing and shaping a social mythology, a popular collective imagination: in this sense, the twentieth century artist closest to him is Walt Disney.
