Whoopi Goldberg, pseudonym of Caryn Elaine Johnson (New York, November 13, 1955), is an American actress, television host, singer and activist. Whoopi Goldberg is one of the few celebrities to have achieved an EGOT, that is, to have won the four main awards in US entertainment: an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar and a Tony Award. She won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for Ghost (1990) and previously received a nomination for Best Actress in a Leading Role for The Color Purple. Whoopi Goldberg was the second African-American woman to win an Academy Award after Hattie McDaniel; she has also won two Golden Globe Awards, two Emmy Awards, a Saturn Award, four People's Choice Awards, five Kids' Choice Awards, seven Image Awards, two Drama Desk Awards and a Bafta. In 2002 she was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
