Name: Woody

Surname: Allen

Woody Allen, pseudonym of Heywood Allen (born Allan Stewart Königsberg; New York, November 30, 1935), is an American director, actor, screenwriter, comedian, writer and playwright, among the main and most famous comedians of the contemporary era.

Thanks to his intense film production (with an average of almost one film per year), the comic texts and gags that he began composing as early as adolescence, he is one of the most appreciated comedians internationally. His refined and often cerebral style has made him one of the most respected authors, a point of reference for modern American comedy: he is considered "the most European" among American directors, both for the themes addressed and for the success of his films, since always greater in the old continent than at home.

The themes addressed by Allen, which range from the existential crisis of intellectual environments to the often self-deprecating representation of the New York Jewish community, from criticism of the bourgeoisie to the criticism of capitalism, reflect his passion for literature, philosophy, psychoanalysis, jazz music , European cinema, and above all for his hometown, New York, where he lives and from which he draws continuous inspiration.

Winner of four Oscars, in 1995 he received the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at the Venice International Film Festival.
