Robert Charles Durman Mitchum (Bridgeport, August 6, 1917 – Santa Barbara, July 1, 1997) was an American actor. Forerunner of anti-heroes in American cinema of the fifties and sixties, performer of over one hundred films in more than fifty years of career, he is one of the most famous figures of Hollywood cinema. Critic Roger Ebert called it the soul of film noir. The American Film Institute ranked him twenty-third among the greatest stars in the history of cinema
