Peter Mayhew (London, 19 May 1944 – Boyd, 30 April 2019) was a British actor with US citizenship. He is known for playing the character of Chewbacca in the Star Wars saga, for which he won the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 1997 MTV Movie Awards. He was 2.21 m tall: the abnormal height was due to Marfan syndrome .
