What would you like to tell us about yourself, your collecting, or business.: I have worked in the entertainment business for nearly 20 years and have met many wonderful performers, singers, even a few legends along the way. Most of my signatures were signed in person, or thru a very good direct source to the artist.

What is your level of expertise?: Intermediate Collector

Why do you want to join Autograph Live?: I have been a collector for years.

What are your areas of interest?: Modern Hollywood and Stage, Classic Hollywood and Stage, Music, SciFi, Horror

Why do you collect?: It started just because I could. I was close enough to the music artists I just had to. And as a fan of many of them, it was a thrill.

What is your favorite autograph in your collection?: Farrah Fawcett signed famous red bathing suit poster

All his signatures are questioned, because he signed so little--some say no at all, but I don't believe that. What you probably have is a secretarial by Vernon Troope, his valet and constant companion. I don't have one handy, but it's fairly big and flowing and easy to read. Ray went blind when he was little so his signature wouldn't likely have the polish of an adult's--and none that I've seen and felt could be real did.

I have some brail Playboys Vernon signed. We got together for lunch a number of years ago and he told me the story: Ray Charles was a voracious reader and left brail magazines in every hotel he stayed in. The housekeeping staff would always send them to his next stop, thinking he forgot them. The next hotel would take them up to his room...and on and on. Well they were getting sick of this, so Vernon had the brilliant idea of signing each magazine Ray Charles. Sure enough...no magazine was ever forwarded again.

Upload the signatures and I'll let you know.
