2014 MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL SPRING TRAINING (GRAPEFRUIT LEAGUE/FLORIDA) AUTOGRAPH ADVICE

My girlfriend and I are going down to Spring Training in Florida for the first time this March. We're planning on catching a few games and would really like to try for some autographs. As of right now, we've got tickets to the Cardinals/Tigers game in Lakeland on March 3rd and Orioles/Yankees game in Tampa the next night. Not sure what other stadiums we'll hit just yet. I'd really like to get Miguel Cabrera, Justin Verlander and Derek Jeter to sign their respective jerseys that I already have. Does anyone have any inside info on which Spring Training stadiums have the best access for autographs? Anything I need to know before I venture down to the Sunshine State? Wish I was going today, this Jersey weather is terrible!

Cabrera is unlikely to sign, as he does signings through his foundation now. I assume Jeter will sign if you're a woman he finds attractive or a youth. Otherwise, he won't sign due to exclusive arrangement with Steiner. I'm not sure on Jv.

Thanks for your input Dane. I may be misunderstanding you but are you implying that because Cabrera and Jeter have foundations/exclusive arrangements that they won't sign autographs for the public unless it's for a woman or child?

Dustin did you delete the advice I had for ya? Whether in AZ or Florida its going to be about the same bro...You are best off getting autographs in the morning at the workouts before the games and the weeks leading up to the first game...Most your Star players in ST only play one to three innings and are not really all that eager to sign going back into the clubhouse...Some do though. Ive attended Spring Training for over 20 years and it is always the case.

Tony, your comment above is the only one I saw from you... Thanks for your advice though. It seems like you'd be the guy to know if you've been going to Spring Training for over 20 years! How early would I need to get to the morning workouts for a chance at some autographs?

Dane M.s advice is more than way off. Jeter is one of the best signers in baseball. He signs at yankee stadium and on the road all the time . Mostly along the dugout. He sometimes does it at the team hotel . He also is not hard at spring training . The guy is a class act. As for spring training , In Lakeland stadium around 2006 Jeter and Damon made the drive over there . In the 5th jeter came out and in the 6th he walked to his vehicle , There is a fence that they walk along . He signed for 30 mins . I was able to get 7 . I got 11 Damons . As for Verlander and Caberera , they can be tuff . Both only signed very few in spring last year. Miguel is more likely to sign than Verlander.

Thanks for sharing Dustin. Anyone who is going to be in the Tampa Bay Area for Spring Training should stop by the St. Petersburg History Museum. They have the world's largest collection of autographed baseballs on permanent display. It's called "Little Cooperstown." It's incredible.

I'd have to agree with Anthony. Although Jeter has become a bit tougher over the years due to dealers he is still one of the better signers in Baseball for his stature. He will however bounce around the dealers if he recognizes them. Verlander is just tough and when he does sign does he rarely sign sweet spots. Cabrera is pretty good at signing but I think the player parking lot at Tiger town is a little more locked down now so may be a little tougher to get near them.

Jeter avoids people yes. But he doesn't only go for the ladies and kids. He dodges dealers and sellers. He signs for people of all ages. Guys and girls.
