Myself and a couple of friends decided to go down to try to meet Billy Joel who was performing in Orlando last night on New Years eve and all of us had very low expectations that it would ever happen because of who he is and the venue seats 20,000 and is very large but decided to give it a try anyway so we were all going to meet at the venue at 6 and we figured since he didn't go on until 10 we would just wait outside and maybe he would stop and be kind enough to sign a few on his way in. One of my friends got there a little earlier and talked to a few people and found out he was already inside and arrived around 2 pm. So myself and my other friend parked and walked to the venue and all three of us met up about 6:15 and not more than 5 minutes passed and out pops Billy Joel puffing on a cigar with a bodyguard in tow. I was in complete shock that he was standing 5 feet away from me and his body guard quickly jumped in front and told all of the 5 people standing out there to "back up keep moving back" and we asked him to sign and Billy was very nice about it and signed multiple items for the five of us and then said he was stopping and he backed up and someone asked for a picture with him and he said no pictures and after a couple of more puffs on his cigar he was gone. We waited a couple of more hours outside the entrance way to see if he would come back out and he didn't so we left. We all smiled and I'm sure we thought "Right place right time" and what a way to send 2014 packing and hello 2015.

Autograph authenticators do make mistakes but if there's anyone I would trust it would be Roger Epperson. I have been collecting for 30 years and Billy is going up on my wall in a nice frame because the autograph gods were smiling upon me on that day I almost didn't go because I thought I'd have a snowballs chance in h**l of every getting someone one like Billy Joel but the chase is always part of the fun of collecting. He signed a "B" which looked like an " R" and then his last name. I have posted a couple of photos on the main page under photographs. Happy graphing and an awesome 2015 wished for everyone!!!!!

I'm so happy for you that you got his signature. Yes, frame it up nice and enjoy it.

Billy signed by BJ. It was authenticated by JSA but I'm having Roger take a second look at it.

Happy New Year,

Dave S

I grew up in NYC. As a teen we went to a Paul Simon concert at the Palladium on 14th Street. This was right about the time when "The Stranger" was a huge hit.  After the show the door flies open and its a very drunk Billy Joel with his very angry first wife in tow. He got into the wrong car. It was fun to watch. He signed "an autograph" for me that was very illegible. I don't even know which way is up when looking at it. I was also at Yankee Stadium when he did the concert with the red flag album came out. My ex wife was a celebrity accountant and her firm was just hired to represent him. His former management robbed him blind. hence the concert tour to keep out of the poor house.
