Autograph Stories Making News -- Brad Pitt, Taye Diggs, and Bud Grant

A quick wrap-up on some autograph thingies in the news this past week.

Most recently, that would involve the story of Brad Pitt being punched in the face at a screening of Maleficen, which stars wife Angelina Jolie (a disappointing movie, my review here: http://fox5sandiego.com/2014/05/29/maleficent/). He was signing autographs outside the El Capitan Theater in Hollywood, while she was posing for photographs when somebody jumped over the barrier and punched him in the face (no, it wasn’t one of Jolie’s former lovers). The idiot was Vitalii Sediuk, who has done a number of annoying things to celebs. He once used a microphone that squirt water on Tom Cruise. He got down on his knees and buried his head in Bradley Coopers crotch at another event. He jumped on stage when Adele won a Grammy. The only time it had ever gotten physical is when he tried to kiss Will Smith. Smith slapped him (lucky he didn’t bring his movies from when he played Muhammad Ali).

His antics keep getting weirder, and Pitt now has a restraining order on the buffoon. There was a $20,000 bail, and I hope he’s not allowed anywhere around these types of events in the future.

In more fun news, last week in the syndicated portion of the Sunday paper, there was an interview with Taye Diggs. It was brief, and they only asked him a few questions The last one was what useful career advice he had been given. He replied, “Whoopi Goldberg said, ‘Be good. Sign autographs. Just don’t stop moving.’”

Great advice, Whoopi. I don’t always agree with you on The View, but I do on this.

In the sports page, I saw an interesting item on former Minnesota Vikings legendary coach Bud Grant. He was having a garage sale in Bloomington, Minnesota, and the Hall of Famer was surprised that many of the shoppers were lined up not for the broken things in his basement that he wanted to get rid of…but for his autograph. He was selling team souvenirs and various football gear as well. Grant told the people that showed up, “If you buy my stuff, these autographs are free. But if you just come here to get an autograph, and don’t buy anything, then I charge you 25 dollars.”

Nothing would make me want to buy a broken lamp from a garage sale, talking the seller down from 50 cents to 40 – then to have it come with an autograph from a football legend.

Thank you for another interesting blog to comment on. This clown bothering celebrities needs a major ass beating. This just gives celebs more ammunition (and in this case rightfully so) to distance themselves from fans and auto seekers alike. Not good for anything, a judge should issue some type of restraining order on this jerk. I bet Bud Grant sold a lotta junk at his yard sale. Nice read.
