I was watching one of those Antique Roadshows type of reality shows. It deals with people that go to storage units and buy them at auctions (the ones that people abandon). They often find autograph stuff in those.
They found what was claimed to be a "First edition" copy of Gone With the Wind, signed by the author. They had it checked, it was deemed to be a forgery. And the book wasn't "first edition."
(the Nazi handbook they had was real, and sold for around a thousand bucks).
Then, I heard a pro boxer being interviewed on TMZ. He isn't a well-known name, despite having a few belts. He said he was just on a plane with Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher, and they were sleeping most of the time. He said a guy went up to Kutcher and asked for a picture and he said "I don't do that now. I'm on a plane."
The boxer went on and on about how lame that was.
We already knew that Demi and Ashton were tough autograph signers, now we know they just don't like people bothering them in general (but feel free to follow them on Twitter!!!)
The last interesting thing I saw recently -- was Eric Stonestreet, the heavy-set member of the wonderful show MODERN FAMILY. He was on Jimmy Kimmel a few nights ago, and talked about how he tweeted something that said "The first person to come up to me and say 'Eric, please punch me in the face,' will get an autographed $20 bill.
He showed a photo of a young lady from Australia that did it. Stonestreet said, "She was really brave. I could've punched her in the face, or she could've gotten $20. And I made a bloody mess out of her."
Now, I love collecting autographs, and I love that show. I have to admit, though -- I'd spend the $20!
(and hey -- isn't it illegal to write on money?)
