It's always nice when a pro athlete goes above and beyond for the autograph seekers.
Two-time NL Cy Young Award winner Tim Lincecum didn't just reach over the dugout to sign baseballs and other items for fans before a Giants came a few weeks ago. He stood on a trash can to do it.
Usually players in the dugout that do sign autographs, have the items handed to them from a security guard. Lincecum, though, decided to take matters into his own hands.
I'm now rooting for the 5'11" pitcher to win another couple of Cy Youngs.
Now, on to football (I'm using my George Carlin, deep voice as I type that):
Bills coach Chan Gailey marched over to a group of kids in the stands that were heckling and yelling out things at the team. Coach Gailey said "If you dog one of us, you dog all of us."
Apparently, the rowdy teens were making fun of quarterback Trent Edwards, and one point saying he'd lose his job.
Gailey then instructed his players to skip that section of the stands when signing autographs on the final day of training camp in Rochester.
There were about a thousand fans, and the ones in that section didn't say anything.
Edwards didn't sign for those fans and said "Obviously, I'm going to get some criticism. But that's nice that you have a coach that will fight for you."
Agreed.
