Nascar autographed items - What is the best item to get signed?

What are you favorite items to get signed by the drivers? Or, better yet, what are the best things to get signed? I'm not interested in selling them, but I just wonder what items the rest of you get autographs on. I know it is a personal preference......

I have nearly all of the fan cards (Hero cards) from each driver, which I personally like getting, but I'm also getting official drivers hats and having them signed by the said driver. I have a generic cap that I am also trying to get all the autographs on, just to have a multi-signature hat. I have a few 1/24 cars signed, but don't like to lug them around all day.

I'd like to hear your thoughts.... :-)

Also, anyone know a good way other than a ziploc bag to store or display signed baseball style hats? What about a good way to display multiple hero cards? I've got a great area to put them up, out of the sunlight to prevent heat fading or other damage, but need a good display idea.

Thanks!

I have quite a few diecast cars that I have gotten signed, but I realize they are a pain to have to carry around all day, not to mention they take up a lot of space. I also have a large collection of 8x10's that I have signed - many of which are photos that I have taken myself at the track. The nice thing about the photos is they are easy to carry around, and for the ones that I took myself are unique, unlike the thousands of hero cards out there that are signed. I also have a few signed mini-helmets that I think are really cool, but there are only a limited number of drivers available. They are also a pain to carry around all day.

I have a few hats that are signed too and I have them in protective plaster covers called Cap Wraps, were made by Loga-Tan Co. I'm not sure if these are still made or not. If you want something a little nicer, Ultra-Pro and BCW make some really nice delux acrylic cases

well with me I have run the gamit of things that were signed by the drivers. I have had tires signed, hero cards, mini drivers helmets, pieces of cars to even the 1/24 cars also. some of it I keep and some I sell to help off set some of my ticket costs for the track and also donate with ebay's mission fish to some different causes. I agree the 1/24 weigh a few pounds but I have found out that if you use one of those carry on bags not the suite case type with a towel inside I have found I can carry atleast maybe 10-12 cars and a very big file folder filled with hero cars also and I have yet get my chops busted for it. I think the people see me with the stuff and I think they get a big laugh out of it. especially the signed tire of kyle petty from a long time ago that the people at watkins glen last yr must have never seen in their lives for some reason? Kept getting asked what is that its a nascar tire folks. both the wife and I have a tire signed by our drivers. mine is kurts and hers is newman. Funny little story with kurt got him to sign it back in 07 for the second pocono race and he won that day. my joke to the wife is maybe I should buy another one and have kurt sign it and maybe he'll win that weekend. was told NO. heck I have even used a back pack to carry some of my diecast when I do the track walk at dover. I usually carry maybe 4-5 cars and maybe a couple of hero cards for that one. same thing don't get my chops busted. good weight distribution and arms don't get tired from carrying the cars around.

As for the hats there is a couple of displays that are for sale on ebay. put in for a search of baseball cap display. they run the gamit of costs and types so have a look around. I got a hit of 261 items as of this writing showing what is available under that search entry so have a look and see what works best for you because not everything that is up for sale will work with what you want.

Most people go for Hero Cards, Die-cast , Trading cards, and 8x10's. Those can all be stored in binders using acid free material.

When I started it was trading cards, now it's the hero cards and diecasts.

I have only went to an IRL race in 2005, they didn't make an IRL set. The only thing I brought with me was a Beckett mag with Danica on the cover. But they had hero cards available for everybody except Penske (couldn't find them) and I picked up a program to get signed as well. I got Hornish, Castroneves, Bobby Rahal, AJ Foyt IV (missed his grandpa--nuts), Ed Carpenter on or in the program. I got my Beckett signed by Danica, and hero card signed by Ryan Briscoe.

I got my first diecast signed by JJ Yeley in 2006...the only time I've ever seen anybody at a signing drumming a Sharpie 30 MINUTES into the appearance...yes, it was THAT bad. Only ten people showed up for the signing, and all but me had cards. I even got to talk to him for ten minutes...at least he wasn't paid by the auto...LOL

If I am carrying multiple diecasts at an single event, I use a tote bag. No one complains about that. Hero cards go in two file folders: blanks/signed cards for me, and "To Lauren" signed cards for my daughter. I just started taking her this year to my signings this year...she may not know it know, but she will appreciate them later.
