Hello and thanks for the help!  I'm considering buying this from a guy that claims to be McFarlane's Brother in Law.  City/state checks out, and McFarlane did own a comic & collectible shop with…Continue

Stan Lee with COA authenticity check

Started this discussion. Last reply by Woody2Shoes Jan 3. 15 Replies

I'm hoping someone can tell me if this Stan Lee signature appears genuine. The ink is clearly different than the print, but the COA it came with is from some company I don't know and can't easily…Continue

"Both McFarlane signatures on the two books are A-OK! No worries here. People talk about McFarlane being an easy forgery? It's not. Authentic McFarlanes have a look all their own and when forged, typically aren't even in the same ballpark.…"

"If the seller handles the return in a professional manner, then I wouldn't feel anything more harsh than a neutral was in order, if even that. Personally, I would have withheld feedback until the conclusion and then once the refund was made by…"

"OK, I've never run into that with ebay before. The few times I've had to return an item, the address has matched. On top of the rest of the experience, that just seemed completely off to me. I'll reach back out to the seller and…"

"OK, thanks for the confirmation and the additional insight. That's how things were going until I got a return address in a different city than it was shipped from. At that point, I figured he was going to pull something about how I shipped it…"

"If Paypal directs you to return to a specific address associated with the return, that's the proper course of action. On a return, to play by all of their rules, you return to the address that paypal has directed you to. Normal."

Woody2Shoes replied to Mike Marziale's discussion Stan Lee with COA authenticity check
"Mike, as long as you send it back to the seller's paypal account verified address for return, that is, the address that Paypal directs you to send the parcel to, you're good to go!  Many times a seller has a different return address…"

"Even early 2018 signatures don't look anything like this. It's NG, make no mistake about it, but in all honesty, I think you jumped the gun by negging him if you requested a return and refund, and he complied. At that point, the right…"

"I got a return address from Paypal that didn't match the sender's address on the original package.  That was the last straw for me, I filed a dispute with my credit card company and let them worry about it.  I didn't want to…"

"Did you return the item? Did the seller approve the return in the dispute? Just a thought, I would have held off posting feedback until I received my money back at least. I can't speak for the authenticity of the signature but it seems only one…"

"Ok, I gotta bring this one back around for one more check.  I filed a complaint with Ebay and Paypal on this one, and left negative feedback on the item.  Today, I got the following message from the guy: "HelloPlease if you could…"

"Awesome!  Thanks for the help!  Really hoping this is genuine.  I want to pull the trigger, but don't want to get burned.  Love the fact that the signature color matches the lighting color in the artwork.  "

Hello and thanks for the help!  I'm considering buying this from a guy that claims to be McFarlane's Brother in Law.  City/state checks out, and McFarlane did own a comic & collectible shop with a BIL for a long time.  Any opinions? See More

Mike Marziale replied to Mike Marziale's discussion Stan Lee with COA authenticity check
"Yeah, I'm no expert, just looking at the signature, but the date seemed off, and the random COA from a nonexistent company immediately gave me that sinking feeling. Thanks for verifying, I needed to make sure I wasn't being paranoid. "
