I see a lot of questions around the internet and collector's chat regarding Harrison Ford autographs. Quite honestly, Harrison is a very good signer and is out in the public quite a bit ( unlike some stars that only appear during a movie promotion ) in California and NY.
Harrison is one of the top names in the last 30 years of entertainment and is by far one of the most desirable autographs for any collection.
Since I have been regarded as one of the world's biggest Indiana Jones collectors and a huge autograph collector, I obviously place an emphasis on Harrison's autograph for my collection.
Luckily, I have been able to meet Harrison a few times in NY, LA, and even in the local town of Morristown, TN ( 15 min away from me ) where he visits Callista's family who lives there.
I also have friends in the hobby who are major in-person collectors and dealers. They help me get items sign when they can catch him in NY.
But what about collectors that can't meet him or know people who are rackers? Is the market safe? NO! not really. Unless a collector knows what to look for and where to look for authentic material.
So, I want to show some examples of authentic Harrison Fords ( mostly recently signed from 2008-2011 ) compared to some of the standard forgeries.
The next few items are in my personal collection and the images can't be used without my permission.
This signed photo was a personal gift from Harrison after I was featured in the Official Indiana Jones Magazine.
A standard 1980's Harrison autograph. Notice the fuller signature and even the more formed F in Ford.
A 1999 In-person example. Note that the letter formation is starting to become rushed and cramped.
A Current ( 2008-2011 ) In-person example.
2008-2011 In-person example ( From Morristown, TN ).
June 2011 In-person example from K9 & Skyline Signatures in NY

2010 in-person example from NY.
In-person example from the last Autograph World auction.
So, there are the styles you can look for and compare to. Now, let's look at some common forgeries.

So I'm completely new to this whole autograph thing! My husband and I have Indy and Han Solo tattoos and would like to send a picture to Harrison Ford. I was also hoping to send a photo to have autographed. are autographed fan pictures received back typically NOT his signature? Do they figure that you're just going to try and sell the autograph? (which I would never do!) Never really thought of it until I was looking up a fan mail address and came across this page http://www.fanmail.biz/mboard/viewtopic.php?t=221611 ..... Do you have any advice for someone seeking an authentic autograph but sadly lacking in funds to attend an in-person signing? Thanks in advance for any help/advice!
~Laura
Laura,
Harrison only signs through the mail for special situations. His normal reply is a pre-printed autograph photo ( Usually a Indiana Jones 5x7 ).
Here is are two bad Harrison...As you can tell, it looks as if the same vendor supplied both autographs...The second photo is from Autograph Store. I would love for someone to chime in on the Craig too. I have several in-person Craigs but don't have time to post them
More bad Harrison Fords ( and a Connery ) from Autograph Store:
I can't speak as to Harrison Ford, but that Carrie Fisher looks nothing like the one she signed for me at NY Comic Con last year. That said, signatures change over time, so I'd be the first to say I could be wrong.
Hi, I really need Harrison Ford on an item I have. Can you give me any suggestions as to how this might be possible? Money is no object here, and I am serious.
Thanks
Richard
I see a lot listed in the $50.00-$75.00 range yet I see them being sold. There is no way that I would believe that these are genuine. Another annoying thing is you see someone put the word proof in their listing. What proof? Its just a pic of him signing that could have been taken anywhere. If I wanted a genuine Ford signature, I would get one from Topps Star Wars Authentics.
