Hello,

New here and thought I'd start with a pricing inquiry. I've got a sheet of music staffs that's been twice autographed: George Crumb wrote two full staffs of his Pulitzer-Prize Winning 'Ancient Voices of Children' and signed it. The second is one full staff by John Williams having written out one full staff of the theme from 'E.T.'. Any thoughts as to price? Many thanks for any comments.

The John Williams piece will be priced according to the item and size of the quote. Is it 3x5 or one of his larger 5x7 photos with the quote to the right of his image, a full music sheet, or an 8x10?

The Maestro has signed numerous musical quotes throughout his long career and while the quote itself will make the item more valuable (or less) the size of the piece is also of great importance.

A Jaws, Star Wars, Raiders or Harry Potter quote being the most sought after, with Superman close behind. E.T. is not as common as CE3K, but the size of the item can multiply the value.

A Jaws quote on a Jaws poster probably being the most valuable, and so on.

Thanks Pete! This is a standard 8.5 x 11 sheet of blank music staff. The top two staffs have the Crumb MSQ and a bit lower down is the Williams MSQ. One sheet. Pardon my not having had a photo when I posted. I just snapshot it and here's a pic of the top half of the sheet.

Btw - what's CE3K? I'm not sure, heh.

Hahahhaha, sorry about that.... Close Encounters of the Third Kind, is JW's "go to" quote and by far represents about 50% of all the quotes he writes.

Mr. Bendu. What do you think about this?

The 2 together on the same page isn't likely to add to the value.

Crumb quotes are about $25

John Williams quote in this instance is probably $200 or $300 on preprinted bars. Slightly more if he drew the bars. that would go up or down based on the length of the quote

Hand drawn bars with a short musical quote from any of his major works can go to $500 or more, and skyrocket on 8x10 size pieces or images related to the work.

Huh. I'd thought it'd be a tad more, but that's close to what I was thinking price-wise. Still, it's worth the postage paid for it (got this and the bulk of my collection via USPS back in the day when people still answered). I've a ton of other quite authentic material (Harper Lee via her sister Alice, Miep Gies, and even a Schulz via a drawing on a sheet already sketched by Ketchum) that really ought to be collectively insured some day (though I loathe having to pay for the individual COA per item if I was to do so).

Thanks for your thoughts and insight. Just recently found this site and it stirs all-kinds of childhood memories (my Sanders guide is still on my shelf). Best wishes, sir!

I would like your opinion on this about value
