TBF, everyone has the same ideas buying a check for safer authenticity, and UK £10K is the going rate the last few years. The picture shown was for a cashiers check, and the only one I’ve ever seen in 25+ years collecting.  The signature itself is also a superb example. That scarcity and quality is exactly what you’re paying for.

Much respect to Greig, but these are not authentic.

The top example is one of many similar frauds sold by liveauctioneers.com a while back.

The bottom example is a typical fraud commonly sold in England.

Thank you Peter for your response.

I am learning all the time because of input from people like you.

Hi Peter,

Prices have gone up since 3 years ago but iirc i may have even upped my offer to around £8k, which would have been over $10k then.

I vaguely remember, completed auction prices I found for cheques ended around $6500, so I believed it was a strong offer, considering it had no authentication.

Though I don't have much knowledge on the Bruce autograph market, I was just a fan looking for a memento.

To be honest I don't think I would pay £10k for anybody's autograph, but it was worth it to whoever bought it I guess, so good luck to them.

I quite like this one which I think went for around $16,000!

If that's the going rate now, then my chances of owning one are a distant memory.

Still, for that kind of money I'd rather own something like a Voltaire handwritten letter, criticizing the Catholic Church.
A signed cheque..not so much.

I think my personal limit would be around the £6-£8k mark, no more than that, else it quickly gets out of control.

+ + Agreed AV, sometimes it amazes me what our friends across the pond pay for things.
