I'd be interested in the trade. What are you needing for stamps on your end? Postage out of the US is at $0.98 per 1 ounce. That's good enough for a couple of 4x6 photos, a letter, and an SASE.

I have the same issue when writing to The States. Unfortunetely the US postal service is still not accepting International orders, so I recently ordered a load of US postage stamps from e-Bay. But when they run out I'd be keen to do some sort…

Postage to the US

I send a lot of requests to the UK and enclose international reply coupons for the signer to use when sending back. I'd love to get my hands on UK stamps, however, and wonder if anyone is interested in trading US international stamps for UK international stamps. Transactions would be using current exchange rates to keep it fair.Anyone interested?See More

My success rate has been pretty steady at 58-59%. In 2007 I sent out over 1400 requests; over 900 in 2008; almost 700 in 2009. My best week I saw about 23 signatures returned (Monday of that week I had 13 returns). As of late I get about 4-9 returns…

If collecting by mail is one of your passions, this is your group! Share tips, experiences and current successful mailing addresses. But don't share home addresses unless you're sure the celebrity wants to receive mail there.

Profile Information

What kind of member are you? Industry professionals must use their real names and identify themselves as such. (You don't have to pick just one!)
Collector
What do you collect, or want to start collecting?
Sports, History/Politics, Books/Literature, Modern Hollywood and Stage, Classic Hollywood and Stage, Music, SciFi, Horror, Space/Aviation/Military
Tell us more about your collection, specific areas of interest, etc.:
My autographs are from every area across all eras. My oldest signature would be President Taft (one of about 8 presidential autographs). I've managed about 1800 autographs in the three years of making requests through the mail.
What is your level of expertise?
Beginner
What is your favorite autograph in your collection?
Dr. Jack Kevorkian signed for me while he was still incarcerated. The photo is dated three months before his release and the note from his assistant said he doesn't sign much at all.
Why do you collect?
Collecting is one way of connecting with celebs. It's been fun going to the mailbox and looking at who has replied and what kind of signature they give.
You can ask anyone living or dead for their autograph. Who would it be?
Johanes Gutenberg on one of his Bibles.
