We now have a Musician-Direct Autograph Sales Forum where you can post individual discussions of new offerings. It's a big change—and a big improvement. We closed this discussion after 8 years but it will always be available to read.
The new system has been in place for 2 months now and it's working well.
This video shows you how easy the new forum is to use.
You can follow the forum and be notified of new signings exclusively! And you can enter a musician's name in the forum's search box and find any discussions about them.
Be sure to click the Follow link at the bottom of the list of discussions.
Try it...I think you'll like it.

Though I recall a member posting a blog asking about this a while ago, I could not relocate it for my purpose in this discussion.
It can be nice when one stumbles upon a musician's shop (via their website), to see that they are selling their autographs. I figured this could grow as a wee database for listing those musicians who partake in this.
I recently recieved a couple press photos signed in ballpoint from John Mayall's website (http://www.johnmayall.com/merch.html). I am also aware that you can purchase signed CDs from Peter Noone of Herman's Hermits(http://peternoone.com/store/). John 5 ( formerly Marilyn Manson, Rob Zombie guitarist) sells various items signed, with an option to dedicate.
So, does anyone else know of this being done by other musicians?

Glad you were able to get a copy as when I checked this morning it was already sold out. I read somewhere, without verification, that there was only a very limited number of the album available.
There was supposedly an individual copy given to 60 indie record stores for Record Store Day and an additional limited number of copies for sale at Lakeshore. I can't find the article with the number at the label but the link below takes you to the record store day article.

Hello, a good question. I can't speak to "modern" Autopens much (I collect vintage mostly), but yes, in general you are looking for exact matches, or close enough (very close) as the machines of old could be "bumped" for variation - modern machines might incorporate random variation in a program. If I designed them they would. Often several templates (the thing cut from a genuine signature and used as a guide for the Autopen) were employed to mix it up. The typical older Autopens could not handle curves for one thing, and would create a tight series of up and over "jigged" looking strokes. The older machine would sign with any pen, or the pen provided (with its tell tale blue color) but the device could not hold the pen as a human. Other things - "dots" where the pen goes down and then up. A literally mechanical even indent. Placement can vary with these things. Others will add more.
In your example, if two templates were used both could be Autopens. Certain Hillary Clinton books are a decent example I guess.
Not sure if this has been posted -

I am the website designer for the Surf City Allstars featuring Dean Torrence of Jan & Dean. Dean has just released his autobiography and is offering Exclusive Autographed Editions for $25 at the website: www.SurfCityAllstars.com
In the 1960, Jan & Dean had the musical hits; #1 "Surf City", #3 "The Little Old Lady From Pasadena", #8 "DeadMan's Curve" and #10 "Drag City" to mention a few. They were pioneers of the California Sound and vocal surf music and most people confused the duo with the Beach Boys.
